PM Narendra Modi: During his visit to Bangladesh in 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gifted a religious article at the Jeshoreshwari Kali temple. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka also expressed "deep concern" over the incident and said in a post on 'X' that it called upon the authorities to recover the stolen article of Tagore and bring those involved to justice.
It said, "We have noted reports of theft of the crown gifted by PM Modi to Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple (Satkhira) in 2021 when he visited Bangladesh." The Department of Foreign Affairs said: "We convey our deep concern and call on the Govt of Bangladesh to investigate theft, recover the crown & bring perpetrators to book.
Indian government sources said New Delhi is it deeply concerned over the reported theft. According to sources, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka is touch with authorities of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh law enforcement authorities should probe the incident, retrieve the stolen article and arrest the culprits involved in it, they said.
